BML Munjal University - BMU, Gurgaon is a Private University established in 2014 through the Haryana State University Act 2006, and notified under Sec 2(f) of the University Grants Commission (UGC Act of 1956). It is named after the chairman and founder of the Hero Group, Brij Mohan Lall Munjal. B.M.U. was founded by The Hero Group, a US$ 5 billion group which includes Hero MotoCorp – the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer. BMU is also a not-for-profit initiative offering undergraduate and post-graduate courses in management, engineering and commerce. Its founder are Founders Brij Mohan Lall Munjal, Suman Kant Munjal, Sunil Kant Munjal, Pawan Kant Munjal, Renu Munjal and Akshay Munjal. B.M.L. Munjal University campus is fully residential and is spread over an area of 50 acres. BMU is mentored by Imperial College London, the 108-year old University that is currently ranked 2nd in the QS World University rankings.

An academic year at BMU comprises two semesters of 16 weeks each and one summer term of 8 weeks. The university has a five day work week with 6 hours of formal class contact per day. Subject to sound academic performance, a student could register for more courses than the prescribed number during a semester. They could also take courses during the summer term. Students will also have the choice to select from a range of electives in different subject categories to complement their core subjects. Since students may wish to strengthen their understanding of a core subject or extend their learning horizons to a different subject, the curriculum offers them a wide range of ‘electives’ to choose from. For example, a computer science and engineering student could take artificial intelligence; a BBA student, capital markets; an MBA student, merger and acquisitions; and a B.Com (Hons) student, e-commerce as an elective course. B.Tech. students can opt for a dual-degree in the engineering domain by spending one extra year at the university. For example, they could pursue mechanical engineering (4 years) plus say, computer science (1 year).
