Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (BDSUHS), Rohtak is a State University specialising in Medical Education. It is named after Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, the first Chief Minister of Haryana, he was popularly known as Panditji. BDSUHS has been established by the Haryana Act No. 26 of 2008. This Act has come into force with-effect-from 2.6.2008 vide Haryana Government Notification No. S.O. 74/H.A. 26/2008/S.I./2008 dating 18^th August, 2008. The University has been established for the purpose of teaching and affiliating, ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training and research in Modern and Indian System of Medicine and for the administration of the Pt. B.D. Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak. The University’s jurisdiction extends throughout the State. It is the first University of Health Sciences in the State. The university is spread over a sprawling 350 acres of land in the historic city of Rohtak.

The University constitutes:

• Medical College - It houses anatomy, mortuary, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, pharmacy and community medicine departments.
• Dental College – It houses departments of peritonitis, orthodontics, oral medicine, prosthodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics and operative dentistry. The college runs BDS, MDS and Diploma in dental mechanic and dental hygiene.
• Regional Cancer Centre – It houses department of radiotherapy, radiation, oncology, surgical oncology and the department of biotechnology and molecular medicine.
• College of Nursing
• Regional Institute of Ophthalmology
• Mother and Child Hospital
• Mental Hospital

Location

Rohtak is located at a distance of 70 Km North-West of Delhi on the National Highway No. 10. Rohtak is well connected with road and railway network.

Facilities at BDSUHS

Library - The University library is supported by PGIMS, Rohtak Library. Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Library has 43439 books including 42444 general books and 995 reference books. It also subscribes to various online journals and is networked with the National Medical Library.

Auditorium – The University has a 1250 capacity fully air-conditioned auditorium.

Shopping Complex – It houses Medical Stores, State Bank, Post Office and Confectionary Shops.
