Moulder is a craftsman moulding vocational trade. The duration of trade is one year with two semesters of six months each. The syllabus for the trade mainly comprises topics like making moulds by hand or using auxiliary machines on a bench for small metal castings, on the foundry floor, or in a pit for large castings; making cores for use in metal moulds; cleaning and smoothing moulds, core boxes and repairing surface imperfections; moving and positioning work pieces such as mould sections, patterns, and bottom boards, using cranes or signalling others to move work pieces; positioning patterns inside mould sections and clamping sections together; cutting spouts, runner holes and sprue holes into moulds and remove moulded patterns. Trade is good and offers wide job opportunities in various fields.

 

Moulder Trade Eligibility

  • Students should be passed in 10th class examination or its equivalent from a recognised school board in the country.

  • Students should be able to plan to undertake a routine task, a complete activity, apply quality systems and apply quality procedures.
  • They should have good practical skills; the ability to visualise moulds from two-dimensional plans; a methodical approach to work and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • They should have an understanding of casting principles and the properties of metals; good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
