Hospital Housekeeping is a hospital cleaning maintenance trade. The duration of trade is one year with two semesters of six months each. Students are introduced to so many topics during teaching such as cleaning patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas and public restrooms, wipe equipment, clean furniture, polish floors and vacuum carpets, collect dirty laundry from all patient areas and distribute the clean linen and hospital gowns back to the appropriate floors. The trade is career orienting in nature as it helps them to have many hospital related jobs. After passing it, they can also go for further higher studies.

 

Hospital Housekeeping Trade Eligibility

Candidates should be passed in 10th class examination from a recognised school board in the country.

  • Students should have knowledge of maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents, visitors and employees.
  • They should also be known of duties like operating different types of cleaning equipment; understanding of collecting and transporting hazardous waste.
  • They should also have common knowledge of activities like effective in moving hospital records and furniture; computer literate in using MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • They should also possess good communication skills; knowledge of good housekeeping techniques; ability to comply with a demanding time schedule.
