Painter (General) is a general painting vocational trade. The duration of trade is two years with four semesters of six months each. During teaching hours in the class, students are introduced to so many topics related to painting such as how to apply paint, wallpaper and additional finishes to inside and outside surfaces of buildings and other areas; utilize pre-coating agents, filling and levelling materials, and mix and match colours and textures; read blueprints, drawings, technical specifications and material data sheets in the successful completion of assigned painting task. The trade is good from job point of view as after its clearing it opens many opportunities both in public and private sector for them.

 

Painter (General) Trade Eligibility

  • The minimum educational qualification for getting admission in this trade is 8th class passed from a recognised school board in the country.

Carpenter: Marking out for carpentry work. Use of carpenters basic hand tools for simple operation viz. Sawing, plaining, chiselling, drilling Etc. Grinding of tools.

Introduction about sheet metal gauges, its equivalent in inch. & mm. Application of sheet metal works such as tinplates, galvanized sheets, iron sheets, copper, brass sheets, aluminium sheets etc.

Plumbing: Plumber tools & their uses. Practice of different types of pipe joints/fitting of different materials & of different diameters. Use of different type of binding material for leakage.

  • Students should have good practical and creative skills; the ability to work carefully and pay attention to detail and the ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • They should have good capability of heights and sense of balance; an awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Students should have good colour sense, manual dexterity, and the ability to use proper lifting techniques for weights and the ability to work at heights.
