M.Sc Agricultural Microbiology or Master of Science in Agricultural Microbiology is a Post-Graduate Agriculture Science and Technology course. Agricultural Microbiology is a branch of microbiology dealing with plant-associated microbes and plant and animal diseases. It also deals with the microbiology of soil fertility, such as microbial degradation of organic matter and soil nutrient transformations.
The duration of a Master of Science in Agricultural Microbiology course is mostly two academic years but it varies from institute to institute. The Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh is providing two years. The minimum time to complete the course is also two years. The Master of Science in Agricultural Microbiology course is available both on a full-time and a part-time basis. Some of the core subjects include Fundamentals of Microbiology, Microbial Genetics, Microbial Physiology, Morphology, Cytology, and Classification of Microorganisms, etc. And, some of the optional subjects candidates may study are as Bio-Fertilizers, Food Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, Microbial Ecology, Microbial Management of Organic Wastes, Microbial Control of Crop Pests and Diseases, and Soil Microbiology.
