Industrial Engineering Courses in India provide you with knowledge which is going to be used in all types of industries. This is because Industrial Engineering is not just restricted to manufacturing, it also includes similar fields like operations research, systems engineering, ergonomics and quality engineering. Industrial engineering is that branch of engineering which optimally utilises humans, machines and materials in a coordinated manner to attain a desired output rate. Industrial engineering employs certain techniques such as floor layouts, personnel organization, time standards, wage rates to control the quantity and quality of goods and services produced. Employing specialized knowledge of mathematical, physical and social sciences, its study is interdisciplinary in nature. The course of study provides students with knowledge of managing and optimally utilising available resources by applying mathematical and engineering tools. A Professional involved in this engineering sub-discipline is known as Industrial Engineer. The main objective of an industrial engineer is to use or advice the most effective engineering methods to run a profitable industry. They analyse, design, evaluate and predict results of an industrial system. Career in industrial engineering are not only beneficial for the employed but are beneficial for the whole country. This is because it eliminates waste of time, money, materials, energy and other resources. Industrial Engineering is a very promising avenue in India because the industrial sector is a major player in the growth of Indian economy through generation of income, employment and foreign exchange earnings. Different sectors like the Iron & Steel, IT, Food and Beverage, Travel & Tourism, Business Process Outsourcing amongst others offer lots of employment opportunities. Furthermore, various organisations which involved in this field like - Institute of Industrial Engineers (US) , IAENG Society of Industrial Engineering etc. also encourage related activities.

Industrial Engineering Career & Job Perspectives
Industrial Engineering Career is certainly a profitable one. Almost all the infrastructural organisations like banks, hospitals, construction, public utilities, wholesale and retail trade, transportation etc., require a industrial engineer working under various capacities. The largest industry which employs them are still the manufacturing companies. Industrial engineers are the most in demand for industries which require efficiency and quality control. Their main work still involves planning the layouts of factories, designing assembly lines and other manufacturing paradigms. There is shortage of industrial experts in government, public and private sector. As their utility is essential in saving money, time and energy, their demand exceeds the supply. Industrial professionals also act as consultants in manufacturing and administrative industries. Due to the all-encompassing nature of this discipline, an industrial engineer can never run out of employment. Candidates having higher qualifications and adequate managerial experience can attain top positions in the industrial/management field with an attractive remuneration and incentives. Major industrial giants like TATA, Reliance Industries ltd., Maruti Udyog, Infosys, Wipro, Indian Railways, BSNL, ONGC, ISRO, DRDO are major Indian employers. At the international level American Express, Bausch & Lomb, Boeing, Bosch, Federal Express, Ford Motor Company etc. are some of the major employers.
Remuneration – Engineers opting to work in the private sector, can negotiate their terms and conditions with the management and get salary as per their requirement.
