In today's modern fast forward life everyone is getting more and more eager to achieve success and are willing to work hard day and night to achieve success. There is no doubt that success comes with the education. People are becoming more and more career-oriented these days, everyone in the country whether from cities to villages, all aspire to achieve success in their career. This desire to achieve career success gave rise to the concept of the coaching culture.

A few years back and even prevailing today was the concept of tuitions. A more modernized and organized form of tuition centre is the coaching institute. It would not be wrong to say that a coaching institute is all about putting in a little extra study by spending a little extra effort to gain little extra marks. However, there is no coaching institute that guarantees success, no matter they do boast of successful previous record. The trend of coaching institutes has grown immensely in the past few years with the growing competition and desire among students for the best career. The trend of the first division has become old-fashioned, these days every student wants above 90% marks. Earlier there were limited resources and material available for studies, studying textbook only and notes by the school teacher, students use to manage some decent grades. But the concept has changed a lot and everyone wants to be the best and score some exceptionally good grades.

The decision of joining the coaching institutes depends entirely upon the student. There is no one to force a student into joining a coaching student; it is just an extra effort towards achievement of your academic goals. Most of the coaching centres are providing coaching for the competitive exams. If you are confident that you can study well all by yourself and can crack the competitive exams by self-study then there is no problem in doing self-study. The benefits of doing coaching are that you can learn some tricks and tips of solving the problems in some easy steps and ways which only coaching institutes provide you because of the experience that they have in the related field over the years. Coaching centres also provide students with study materials when you join them which are very helpful for the preparation of competitive exams.

The need for a Coaching Centre

These days joining a coaching institute has become a common practice in our society just as a habit. A lot of students enrol themselves into these coaching institutes with the hope of achieving success, but the hard fact is that only a few are the winner. Coaching centres do boast of a successful track record but can never assure you success. They would make some attractive advertisements with the photographs of toppers, but the thing worth noting is that, how can the same student be enrolled with over half a dozen coaching centre claiming his success. Students need to be really careful about these things. Keeping pace with the demand, thousands of coaching institutes are also coming up who may or may not provide you with the best education; students too are getting admitted in these institutes without knowing what they would do next.

There is not just one reason for this behaviour, its peer pressure as well as the pressure put in by the parents and teachers and also the desire to be best that is pushing in more and more students towards this coaching culture. Students these days are not satisfied with whatever they are taught in the school and decide to join a nearby coaching institute to study that little extra. The impact is so much that these days coaching centres are becoming more important for the students rather than their schools. It is also a fact that these coaching institutes have also become a place where students can hang out with their friends in the evening. These institutes are also a reason for them to move and socialize a bit.

Some Features of Coaching Centers

Talking about a few years back, there was no much news or hype about the coaching centres there were coaching centres at that time also, but the concept was not so widespread at that time. But, the concept of coaching culture has picked up so much hype, today while walking by the road, we can easily come across banners and advertisements of coaching institutes claiming huge success rate from the concerned coaching institute. These days, the modern coaching centres have emerged in a commercial form, taking help of all kind of marketing skills also and have led to the commercialization of the education. While reading a newspaper, there too we can see eye-catching advertisements from coaching centres claiming to provide the best education.

Not only newspaper and banners these have also reached other advertisements sources such as television, radio, and internet etc. As a result, people are running towards all these coaching institutes as if they have been hypnotized by them. All believe that these coaching institutes know the secret key to success. We cannot really comment about the integrity of these coaching centres but with a lot of experience in the same field, these tend to have gained a lot of things that can be really helpful for the students.

We just cannot condemn all the coaching centres, a lot of them are doing some good work also that is worth praise and they have changed the life of a lot of ordinary students with some normal capabilities. It is also a fact that many of these institutes are not providing in some quality education and are just in the business of making money and risking the career of the students. A lot of coaching institutes are coming up in the market without any relevant experience of teaching as well as strategy. Whereas in one hand hundreds of students are getting qualified in their desired competitive examination, on the other hand, not even a few are getting qualified from some of these so-called coaching institutes. So it is upon a student to decide if he wants to go to a coaching centre or not. And if he decides to enrol himself then it is better advised to check the credibility of the institute.

Advantages of Coaching Centre

A lot of students are going in for the coaching centres with a dream to study well and have a prosperous future. Since there are so many students who are enrolling in these institutes, then there must be something good about it also. There are a lot of students who have been benefitted by the experience as well as the professional approach to these coaching centres. With a lot of experience in their sector and excessive study material, these can prove to be of a great help for a student to get closer to their dream. Well, this is a fact that these coaching centres can only help students to achieve what they desire only if students also put in some real hard work. Just enrolling in a good or an expensive coaching centre is no guarantee for the success. Few advantages of these institutes are:

  • Professional teaching methods and approach is something that can help students a lot. A coaching centre basically makes use of some special teaching methods and attempts to prepare a student specifically for the exam he/she is planning to write. Since with the lot of experience that they have, these people have a good knowledge of topics and also have a lot of tips and tricks to solve the problems in no time. These institutes also provide students with good study material in the form of assignments, synopsis, test booklets, mock test papers etc. which a student usually does not get in school or college. All these factors help a student prepare in a better manner for a competitive examination.
  • Coaching institutes tend to train students every year for various examinations, in doing so these people tend to become really familiar with the pattern of exam and that relevance as well as the importance of a topic. The can be the most important advantage of taking up coaching. Student’s gets to know the pattern of the examination well in advance, kind of questions that were usually asked in previous exams, which chapter or question should be given more importance etc. These institutes provide detailed study material that includes the syllabus and some other useful topics which are usually not covered in regular schools. This saves in a lot of time, as students do not have to run around collecting old question papers or refer to different kind of books to get a knowledge of the examination pattern.
  • Many professionals in the coaching industry do agree to the fact that it is not difficult to crack the competitive exam without the help of coaching classes but for that, the students need to have a strict schedule of study and also need to be really attentive in school lectures. Students studying all by themselves need a proper selection of reference books to revise the concepts taught in class and to understand more complex topics which all add up to a big problem for a student to concentrate on all things at one time. By going to the coaching institutes, students follow a certain study routine and timetable. All this definitely helps. Also, there is a proper teaching technique that is followed.
  • For some specific competitive examinations like IIT or CAT, coaching classes really help students reach their goals by providing smart and correct guidance. Also, students appearing for these examinations need extensive practising of the similar question to gain command over such questions. The most important aspect of these exams is to solve more in less time. It is not hard to solve questions in these exams, but things that matters are the time. Hence these institutes provide students with some relevant tips and tricks to solve some frequently asked questions within seconds.

Disadvantages of Coaching Centre

Coaching centre culture is a fast growing business these days and a lot of new people are entering into this business with the kind of profits that existing people are making. One of the major fact that attracts in more and more people is the cost of set-up, coaching classes are one of the business kinds where teachers don’t need a money investment except for the initial setup, and they can continue earning as long as they can spare some time to teach. The coaching trend has grown to the level that now college teachers feel reluctant to explain the syllabus topics with appropriate details during college classes feeling that the student could grip the same as the evening coaching classes by the same teacher or elsewhere. Same teachers who teach at school are taking up tutorial classes in the evening wherein they teach the same syllabus but of course in a different and efficient way.  This trend is not only limited to the government schools, but private schools are also cashing in on this culture.

Private schools generally charge huge amounts of fees from students and provide them with the relaxation of attendance. Hence students only go to their school for examinations and spend the rest of their time in a coaching centre or studying all by themselves. In the past few years, there has been a drastic increase in the number of students attending or rather forcing themselves to these coaching institutes. Fact is that tuition is required by only those students who really need them and not everyone, but rather it has become a trend or some kind of fashion statement to go to fancy institutes. There are times when students get so stressed that they may end up with some health problems or depression.

Blind faith in these coaching institutes can sometimes prove to have some shocking consequences. There are a lot of institutes coming up who do not have any knowledge of the examinations and with no prior experience. These people only attract students with false advertisements and risk in the career of many students just to earn their profits. As every academic year is passing, the level of competition is setting new benchmarks, cut offs are not getting any lower. It is better advised that students become more cautious and aware and do check in the credibility of the institute if they are opting for. Remember your right choice towards your coaching institute can take you towards success otherwise, a bad choice can also ruin your precious time, money, energy and career as well.
