Space exploration is referred to the investigation and exploration of space and the objects present in the outer space like planets, stars, celestial bodies etc. They are done by both means; spacecraft carrying humans or spaceships having robots. It is also done by powerful telescopes installed in the space agencies. In early times, people just look at the sky and thought about the carious questions like what is up there and all, but as technology developed very much, now we are able to go to space and find out what is there. Humankind travelled a long way to achieve this. With the help of artificial satellites, spacecraft, high technology telescopes we are now able to explore our space and solar system. As it is a very old hunger of human being to know about the universe. With the help of space exploration, we come to know about various precious information related to our planet and the universe. We admit that space exploration is very expensive as a great investment is needed and long time process, a billion of dollars are spending on space projects these days by different countries, but it has various advantages. Space exploration reveals many aspects of outer space.

Importance of Space Exploration

Space exploration has numerous merits. With every completed space project, we achieved some great things. We come to know about the origin of the earth and about other facts about the universe which help us to make developments. With this greed to know about space, we made several advanced technologies which help us in various things. There are various direct and indirect important features of space exploration. Some of the advantages of space exploration are discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

• Natural Resources: As we are overpopulated right now, the amount of natural non-renewable resources is very less compared to the population. So, we may take these resources from the other planets if there will be any possibility of presence. There are numerous types of mineral present out there in the outer space, maybe even better than the earth ones. The only problem is to gather them and bring to earth. Scientists are working on this issue; if this happens then there will be no more shortage of resources and hiking of prices. For instance, helium-3 is present on the moon in an abundant quantity which is rarely present on Earth as it is very rare isotope. It is mainly used in nuclear-fusion research. Also, europium and tantalum are present on our natural satellite; these are the elements which generally used in the field of electronics and also in developing the solar panels. In future, we will surely develop such technology by which we can able to do mining on the other planets like mars etc. Asteroid mining is the going on a project. Scientists are looking for the ways in which we can able to do asteroid mining, as asteroids are rich sources of minerals. By doing this, our primary environmental concern of depletion of natural resources will be no more.
• Protection from Asteroids: As the collision of big asteroids with the earth will destroy the earth completely. In a fraction of seconds, whole human civilization will be over if it happens. According to NASA, in every 10,000 years, a big asteroid collided with the earth, as it is happened before, at the time of dinosaurs. So, with the help of space exploration technology, we can predict the collision long before and may be able to find the way to destroy the asteroid or maybe change the way of asteroids which come towards the earth before entering in the earth’s atmosphere.
• Gives Employment: A large number of people are required for a single space project, then for whenever any space project will start then a number of folks will be employed. Also, it gives employment to various industries. As various jet parts, technical gadgets will be required. So, it is the indirect importance of space exploration because many folks get employment through these kinds of projects. It is not only the job of the scientists, but various other professionals also needed for these projects which are from different work fields like engineers, technicians, mechanics and many more other people from different streams.
• Monitoring Natural Disasters: These space agencies also make notes on the weather conditions of Earth. They forecast the weather situations long before which help in to give us time to move on to safe places. They monitor the natural disasters like hurricanes, tsunami, tornados etc. and aware the people about upcoming things so that they can take safety measure steps, by this the life-loss rate after any natural disaster decreased. For example, there will be chances of a thunderstorm in the sea and we all know the consequences of the storm in a sea for the sailors and boats. But with the help of weather forecasting which is done by the satellites, part of space exploration, we can warn the sailors and prevent the major accidents and reduce the life and property loss.
• Another Habitat: Now, the population of the world is reached 7.6 billion, which is quite large and in coming time this figure will be rise. This further rising the environmental problems like pollution from vehicles, water shortage etc which results in the worst conditions for living on Earth. So we have to look forward to migrating to somewhere else as enough damage has been done to earth and in future, it will be not safe for humans to live on Earth. According to the UN Programme 2012, Earth can bear a population of 8 to 16 billion at most and we are at 7.6 right now. Space exploration is the only way to find out the life on other planet or celestial body. This will save human civilization.
• Medical Benefits: The space organizations alone make a number of medical instruments for the astronauts which will also use for the common people treatment. As we all know that, there are very medical issues generated in the human body when it comes in zero gravity, in that case, many drugs and instruments invented which are also useful for the people on earth. Such as a way for applying cancer-fighting drugs directly to the tumours present inside the body. Also, the robot arms fit inside the MRI machines to do automated surgeries. Moreover, there will be a great loss of bones and muscles in space due to zero gravity; in that case, a drug is invented named as Prolia which helps the elder people by protecting them from osteoporosis. This drug was first tested on the astronauts as they face this problem at a higher rate than elders.
• Advancement in Technology: Space exploration brings a great advancement in technology. There are a number of technical gadgets which space exploration has provided us. Navigation and GPS is the main example of this importance. We all have GPS enabled cell phones which help us to navigate and tell us the better route to reach a location where we never been before. Also things like fire extinguishers, vacuum cleaner are also the invention of space organizations as these all things are needed while travelling in space. Moreover, the MRI scanners are also one of them which often used in the healthcare systems. Other technologies like solar cells, artificial limbs, water purifiers, memory foam, strong radial tires, aircraft anti-icing systems, cochlear implants, space blankets etc. So, we cannot deny the contribution of space organization in our development.
• Knowledge about Universe: We come to know about the universe in which Earth lies, we come to know about the Earth through the space programs, also satellites keep an on the natural resources present beneath the Earth. Most of the geographical factors of moon and earth reveals with the help of these programs. Through, these we are now able to view space view of the earth, how earth really looks like. The proper revolution and rotation time period of earth, moon and planets of our solar system revealed from the space explorations.

This all about how space exploration programs play a vital role in the development of humankind and serve us with better technology and information. It is one of the biggest achievements of humankind. Maybe it has some drawbacks but still, it contributes a lot to the development of humans.
