ARS NET - Agricultural Research Services / National Eligibility Test
ARS NET has been discontinued and replaced by two separate exams ie ARS Examination and NET Examination from 2013.
ARS NET 2013 - Agricultural Research Services/National Eligibility test acronym as ARS NET is held by Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) on yearly basis for filling up the vacancies of Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in the pay scale of Rs.15,600 - Rs.39,100 plus research Grade Pay of Rs.6,000 in the ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) Institutes, combined with National Eligibility Test (NET) for determining eligibility for recruitment of Lecturers and Assistant Professors by the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs)/AUs. ICAR is an Agricultural Research Institute in India.
ARS NET Exam Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
For admission to Agricultural Research Service/National Eligibility Test a candidate must have a Master's degree or equivalent in the concerned subject
2. Age
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years but not have attained the age of 32 years as on the respective year of the exam.
On job candidates of ICAR less than 45 years in age and of the State Agricultural Universities less than 35 years in age as on the respective year will also be eligible to appear subject to possession of prescribed qualifications.
3. Nationality: A candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to Indian before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued by the Government of India.
Reservations as per governmental norms are applicable regarding age limits and job vacancies

Selections for the Agricultural Research Services Examination is comprises of written exam containing two papers followed by a mandatory viva-voca only for those eligible candidates who have applied for the Agricultural Research Service in the application form and fulfill other requirements. Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board will hold viva-voce in the application form and fulfill other requirements.
Total Marks for the whole Exam: (200+200+100=500 marks)
ARS NET Exam Dates
ARS/NET is generally held in the month of April/November every year.
How many attempt can a candidate avail to take ARS NET Exam?
The number of attemps for appearing in the Agricultural Research Services Examination will be limited to FOUR for all candidates(whether M.Sc/PhD) including the in-service candidates of ICAR. However this restriction will not apply to SC and ST candidates, who are eligible otherwise.
ARS NET Exam Fee
The candidate seeking admission to this examination must pay to the Board a fee of Rs.1000(Rs. One Thousand Only) through a Crossed Bank Draft Only drawn in favour of Secretary A.S.R.B and payable at New Delhi with application form. However candidates beloning to SC/ST are not required to pay any fee.

Questions related to Agricultural Research Services / National Eligibility Test
ARS/NET 2013 Important Date
ASRB decided to conduct ARS Examination and NET Examination separately from the current session. While National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination will be conducted twice in a year; ARS (Agriculture Research Service) Examination will be held once in a year. The syllabus, however, for both ARS and NET examinations will be same.
